How to make Doughnuts (Recipe)

To make doughnuts, you will need the following ingredients:-

- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil, for frying

For the glaze:-
- 1 ½ cups powdered (confectioner's) sugar
- 3-4 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional topping:-
- Sprinkles, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to make doughnuts:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt.
2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk until it reaches a warm but not hot temperature. Remove from heat.
3. Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the warm milk. Whisk to combine.
4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
5. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
6. Place the dough back into the mixing bowl and cover it with a clean cloth. Allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air.
8. Roll out the dough to about ½ inch thickness on a floured surface. Use a doughnut cutter or a round cookie cutter to shape the doughnuts. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with a cloth, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
9. While the doughnuts are rising, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth. Set aside.
10. In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
11. Carefully place a few doughnuts at a time into the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
12. Remove the doughnuts from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
13. While the doughnuts are still warm, dip them into the glaze, turning to coat both sides. Place them on a wire rack to allow the glaze to set.
14. If desired, add toppings such as sprinkles, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut while the glaze is still wet.
15. Repeat the frying and glazing process until all the doughnuts are done.
Enjoy your homemade doughnuts!
